Who knew that Jacob Street would be blogging? Thanks to two lovely girls it now seems that I am going to be consumed by this new fad. Speaking of two lovely girls I figure that I would dedicate my first post to them.
My url Oneway_st was meant to symbolize the long road taken to Boone, NC. For those of you who do not know my story it has been my desire to be at Appalachian over the past five years of my life. Needless to say i did not attend this school for my first semester of college. Think of something you want really bad for five years but not being obtain it. I know get over it right? Wrong it happened for a reason......
It wasn't because I didn't have good grades, SAT scores, or GPA requirements, but because someone wanted me to see what real friends ,or even better, the sweetest most caring young women in the world were capable of doing.
Starting my first week at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro was not something I was looking forward to. You could even say I was dreading it. Then they "re-entered" my life in a different setting other than high school and I was not ready for what they were about to do.
It started with once-a-week dinner dates -which are the best by they way- that were shortly followed by a movie. Many date nights later I find my self sitting in their dorm at 12 o clock! I guess you could say I really Enjoy being around them. -I hope they enjoy me : *
It is because of these two ladies that leaving next semester will be so hard. We have been through things like face plants out of our chairs to eating a whole tube of "Sunny Seed Drops" (Chocolate Sunflower Nuts) to drinking many cups of hot chocolate and Starbucks. All of which will be memories greatly missed when I venture up to App; but cherished deeply.
One girls friendship that continued to grow from, out of the depth that it was in high school, has the ability to make you laugh by telling the worst jokes known to man or simply by falling out of her chair. This fits perfectly with her ability to witness to whoever she comes across. Even with two people very different from herself, she was able to show God's love to Razz and Jared by inviting them to play Uno Attack with us without giving it any thought. Your blond fro and love for God along with his people will be something I will take with me as I hike up to App. Thanks for always being there for me.
The other girl, who is much more reserved at first glance, actually has a personality that ,with a little encouragement, will run up and down the hall sliding on her socks and even on occasion run around in Target with Halloween costumes on. From her past this girl has wisdom that only she can fully understand, however I believe that the Will of God will use her in ways only he knows. Your unique personality and the intimate presence it demands allows one to actually take the time to understand you as a woman of God. Thanks for who you are.
Who knew two people could change someones life in such a way, that it would take a place once hated and make it into one that I am dreading to leave.
